Update: The Summer of 2017

#SciFi #Dystopian #SpaceOpera #IndieAuthor #Blog #Update

Hello, Friends.

Sorry, it’s been such a long time between posts but having the old site crash took more of a toll on me than I thought it had. Book one of my series, “The Korpes File,” was released on time but without the website and subscriber base I’d built up, it didn’t go entirely as I’d hoped. When I realized that I was faltering, I commissioned a logo to be used for the entire series from Ana at @handypixel_com to rejuvenate me and kick start the process.

Now that I’ve got the bones of this site to the point where I’m happy; I just have to add more content.

Stay tuned.

Update: Developing Artwork For The Series …

“3D Printing Quality Food & Beverages Since 2499.”

As many of you know, I display my work on a number of art sites as Mythspinner Studios. Rather than muddy the waters and use the same accounts I’ve branched out as “The 942 Series”. I’m in the process of developing a small assortment of venues where fun and reasonably priced articles relating to the series can be purchased.
I still have plans to develop the books into graphic novels, but that will have to wait until the first three books are complete.
I will be adding to the WIP Atlas page as I finish more images. There will be new maps, visuals of the cities, and perhaps even a layout of the tunnels that run between the sites. At some point just after book three (I estimate mid-2019), I’d like to make the Atlas available to Fans of “The 942 Series” as perk.

What is Fans of “The 942 Series” you ask?

It’s my quarterly newsletter. The first issue will appear in October of this year. It’ll contain original short stories set in my world as well as art, character interviews, and other goodies that I have yet to think up. I went with quarterly as it gives me time to generate content and it won’t clog up your inbox. A sign up form is available for those who’d like to receive a copy.

New Feature: Shamelessly Promoting Someone Else …

Those who know me know that I’ve been spotlighting people who help the community in some way, or are Indie Authors or Artists and are awesome on my Facebook page for the last couple of years. You’ll note that on the main menu there’s a link to pages for some of these people. Check them out. This section will grow over time.

Book Update:

“The Interview” is in final revisions. I hope to have a copy in the hands of my beta-readers by August.  Camp NaNoWriMo will be used to in an attempt to make this a reality.

Other News …

Thank you to everyone who has chosen to follow me on Social Media. As of this moment, I have close to 4k followers on Twitter, and 436 fans on Facebook. I’m not sure how this happened, but know that I appreciate every one of you.

Prerelease Party of “The Korpes File”? YES!

#SciFi #IndieAuthor #BookRelease #CoverDesign #SpaceOpera #AmPublishing

The time has come to pry this manuscript from my fuss-budgety death-grip and let it find its fate among the reading population. With that said, it’s still lodged in the gullet of Amazon as a draft.

A little Q & A with J. I. Rogers:

What are you waiting for?

Essentially, I’m being neurotic; I’m waiting for a cover design that doesn’t elicit groans from members of my beta-reader team. I’m waiting … Bah! I don’t like waiting. Here is a sampling of what’s appeared, image-wise, over the last four years of this project.

Keep in mind that these are all prototypes; little refinements are still required. These represent the cover’s earliest incarnation to the most recent. All of these have been vetted and received a positive response – mostly … Potentially, an outside designer could be hired to do the cover; I’m waiting to hear back.

So. What about this ‘promo party’? We’ve seen little in the way of hype. You promised!

It’s true. Sorry. Between life stuff, being sick, and external projects, I’ve had less time than I thought I would, to get my act together. Consider this post as a sign that I’m rectifying the situation.

Will you have prizes, bribes, and cake if we attend your FB function?

Do you want them? I’m sure I could figure out some form of swag to offer if that will lure you out. Bookmarks? T-Shirts? Autographed bookplates? Leave a comment if you have something else in mind.

Do you expect to release this book this year?

Yes. March of this year at the latest.

Is “The Korpes File” worth reading?

Yes. 10/12 of my beta-readers thought so, too.

What genre is it?

To define the genre … If you like softish sci-fi mixed with dystopian and space opera elements, then you may like it. At just under $3 US for the e-version, you can’t lose.

What age group is this aimed at?

Gentle readers be warned; there is adult subject matter and it’s all in context with the story. I filed it as an 18+ for those reasons; for full disclosure, read below.

This is part of a series, right?

Yes, and the good news is that books two (“The Interview”) and three (“Into The Seep”) are already written, and in the process of being revised/edited. “The Korpes File” works as a stand-alone, but it’s my hope that you’ll want to know what happens.

So. What now? When’s this party and is there a cover charge?

I’ll post the event date in the next couple of days. No cover charge …

Stay Tuned …
